PART 1
I’m Moving On From VoiceOverXtra! Today:
What’s Happening – And A Party Invitation
March 2, 2026

By John Florian
Founder/Owner, VoiceOverXtra

This is difficult for me to tell you, yet it also gushes in a warmth of memories of people, events and rewarding experiences.

After 19 years, I’ll be moving on soon from VoiceOverXtra - either through sale* or retirement of the site.

It’s been a fascinating and non-stop run since founding this company and website in 2007, featuring industry people, news, training opportunities and resources.

Why move on? It just seems right for me at this stage of life. Voice acting and VoiceOverXtra were actually my second career, after two decades on the editorial side of magazine publishing.

Note: I didn't say that I am retiring. My next career is writer of mystery humor, and I've got a book pouring out now that just won't quit. I'm sure you know what I mean.

As of the moment, the final day for VoiceOverXtra is slated to be March 11.

MORE TO COME …

But I’m not gone yet!

You’re invited to join us for fun and reflections at the Zoom VoiceOverXtra Retirement Party! Hosted by me and Martha Kahn: Tuesday, March 10, from 7 to 10 pm Eastern, 6 to 9 pm Central, and 4 to 7 pm Pacific. You’ll receive a link in a few days, and we hope you can drop by at your convenience.

In coming days I’ll also post memories and reflections on what I’ve learned, with special attention to advice for voice actors in the early stages of their careers. We’ll also look back at articles about early voice over events – packed with photos and mentions of special people in my career.

If you’d like to follow this “remember when” journey, here’s your link for alerts to new posts: https://www.voiceoverxtra.com/email_feed.htm

John..congrats on your next move. Selfishly I am sad you are leaving as I have loved reading your articles (and learned a lot) Will you be keeping them up for awhile? Or do I need to get a HUGE zip drive to download them all on! ;)
Best of luck on your book - and if you want a female voice to help you narrate it for an audiobook, I'll be around! Again, Congrats on your next chapter!!!

Cheers to your next endeavor John! You're one of the first real, genuine, welcoming people I met in the industry over 10 years ago! You and your smile will be missed in my inbox and at events. All the best, my friend!
